GOD+ART (DAY 25)

I long, yes, I faint with longing
to enter the courts of the Lord.
With my whole being, body and soul,
I will shout joyfully to the living God. (Psalm 84:2 NLT)

What a beautiful day to enjoy the company of GOD! And the company of dear sisters in the LORD! Adventures are best shared. Kelly, Lynn and I each have enjoyed quite a few adventures on our own and together.

We didn’t know it, but GOD had a wonderful “playdate” planned for the three of us on this gorgeous fall day at Lynn’s retreat in the woods. We didn’t really have a plan, we just wanted to enjoy the day together. Lynn provided the space and yummy food. Kelly gifted us with whimsical mugs and new journals. And I brought collage supplies. (Perfect for three word-loving, journal-toting and collage crazy gals.)

You should have seen us scouring the pages of outdated magazines for inspiring and intriguing images and words. The table was spread with love, delight and magazine pages.

As I was working on my collage for today, I found an image of a woman with arms raised embracing the moment. She was a little too tall for my page. Lynn and Kelly suggested that I let her hang off the page.

That seemed a little precarious, but the predicament of wanting to use the whole image led to a surprise element in today’s collage.

I made a fold out!

I love the delightful surprises of play and ART!

Brother Lawrence said:

“That our only business was to love and delight ourselves in GOD.”

I think we did a fine job of accomplishing that today on this sublime Saturday in the woods.

I leave you with some snapshots from our “adventure” and “play” time . . .

And how blessed all those in whom YOU live,
    whose lives become roads YOU travel;
They wind through lonesome valleys, come upon brooks,
discover cool springs and pools brimming with rain!
God-traveled, these roads curve up the mountain, and
at the last turn—Zion! God in full view! (Psalm 84:5-7 The Message)

Lovely to peak into this happy, joy-filled day and meet your fold-out friend!

    1. It would be wonderful to find a way for all my sisters in the Lord to get together! To play and make collage discoveries and enjoy the surprises together…I guess we’ll have to wait until heaven!

  3. Kelly and Kel…..two of my favorite people on a Playdate. I love it! So creative and inspiring. And Psalm 84? Kind of my all time favorite Psalm, too. Yay!

    1. Oh how I wish you could have joined us…Kelly was telling me again about the faith and culture conference…I am asking God if there’s a way for me to see you and Dawn and others from the blogosphere in person one of these days…are you going to Soli Deo Gloria retreat?

  4. So that’s why my blog has been so quiet! lol. My fave cheerleaders were having a playdate! OK, so I seriously could see myself there. Love: collage, CHECK; Cute Mugs: CHECK; Great fellowship: CHECK; Journal: do I even need to say CHECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? Collage: CHECK.
SOunds like the most fun ever! Happy for you! HUgs!

    1. Dawn- You would have LOVED it…and I wish we could have found a way to get you and Jody and all our sisters from the blogosphere together to seek God and play! I love the community he has given us on the internets…but it’s not the same as meeting in person…ah…one day…heaven will be brimming with our smiling faces and group hugs!

    2. So Dawn, when are you coming over to our cabin to play?! I said the day was perfect; well, I take that back, because it was missing YOU! It will happen one day! CAn’t wait!
      Love
      Lynn

      1. Sounds perfect. I am sure God will allow it in His time, if it is His will….and I do believe it is!

  5. Kel and Kelly! My little playmates forour playdate. Boy, my computer is fading fast. I’m having more trouble bringing up blogs and commenting. I am so thrilled that you would honor me by driving (quite literally!) over the river and through the woods to our cozy cabin, Innisfree. We coudln’t have selected a more perfect day. And everything else was perfect too–the Lord, the company, the fun (and Whole Foods food!) I will hold this time like a gift in my heart. It truly was a taste of heaven!
