The Word was first,
the Word present to God,
God present to the Word.
The Word was God,
in readiness for God from day one.(John 1:1-2 The Message)
(Oops! The link-up and giveaway expired yesterday…still go read the other link-ups and check out the devotional…it sounds like a good summer companion!)
It’s my favorite time of the month: Random Journal Day! This month, Dawn Paoletta is offering a giveaway and her special guest Dawn Maurice shares her journaling story. And best of all you can link-up all week instead of just on a Friday! (I am glad for the extension, as I got sidetracked by a fun weekend celebrating the Fourth of July.) We had spectacular weather in St. Louis. I camped out with the nieces and nephews on our boat, while it was parked in front of our house. (The river was too high to put the boat in the water.) We enjoyed fireworks on a beautiful evening by the Missouri river, which wasn’t flooding. Then the rest of the weekend, I worked on making journals.
I wanted to make one out of recycled items and one out of a vintage book. I took the extended time to create these cool “containers” for writing down of all things good and wonderful with color and doodling and added images to come in the future!
First, I made one out of a cardboard mailing box and vintage sheet music. (My sweet mom has been gifting me with vintage paper items. She also gave me the book that I converted into a journal.) To get ideas on how to make recycled journals click here and here.
Here’s some photos of the two in process and ready to be used!

For the vintage book, I left the cover as is, and then used clear and white gesso on all the pages to prep them for future use.

Now that I’ve shared these creative journals, I want to encourage you to use any journal or piece of paper and write down God’s word to you for today!
God has spoken to us in various ways over time, and the written word happens to be one of the most extensive ways God recorded His love for us! But His greatest word was and is Jesus. (See Hebrews 11:1-3)
Linking up with Random Journal Day!
I love a dialogue. Be the first to start a discussion!
