un(merited): not earned

IMG_1756

Thus he shows for all time the tremendous generosity of the grace and kindness he has expressed towards us in Christ Jesus. It was nothing you could or did achieve—it was God’s gift to you. No one can pride himself upon earning the love of God. The fact is that what we are we owe to the hand of God upon us. We are born afresh in Christ, and born to do those good deeds which God planned for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10 J.B. Phillips)

  1. Hi
I am following you from the Sunday Community. I love the “nothing you could do or achieve”.
    Blessings,
    Janis

    1. Janis- I love how various versions of Scripture enrich our understanding!

  2. Kel, I haven’t stopped by in a while….I just noticed all your words lately have been (un) something. YOu are so creative–I love what you do with words, especially with God’s word.

    1. Yes…I have been celebrating an unusual Lent with “un” words! I love God’s unlimited way of using words to thrill our hearts!

Born to do those good deed which God planned ahead for us~that should give me rest instead of striving to figure out what God wants me to do.
Thank you for your post. I followed from Sunday Stillness.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Janis! It is comforting that God sees into our unknown futures and saw it all beforehand! He wants us to unabashedly follow HIM!

I love a dialogue. Be the first to start a discussion!
